New Update from IRCC: Scheduled for May 21, 2024, the opening of the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship 2024 intake marks a significant development.

IRCC plans to engage with 35,700 potential sponsors, aiming to secure up to 20,500 complete applications—an increase of 5,500 invitations compared to the 2023 intake.

Over a span of approximately two weeks, starting from May 21st, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will dispatch invitations.

Notably, the sponsor form will remain closed to new sponsors. Invitations will be extended to randomly selected potential sponsors from the pool of interest-to-sponsor forms submitted in 2020, mirroring the methodology employed in the preceding years.

Sponsors who submitted forms in 2020 without receiving an invitation in 2021, 2022, or 2023 are encouraged to verify their provided email addresses.

For the 2023 intake, applicants must electronically submit their applications through either the Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal.

Opting for a Canadian Super Visa remains the top choice

Opting for a Canada Super Visa remains the optimal choice for individuals seeking to reunite with their parents and grandparents in Canada but are ineligible for sponsorship.

The super visa offers a ten-year validity and allows for multiple entries. Super visa holders can remain in Canada for up to 5 years continuously without the need to leave the country, with each stay lasting a maximum of five years.

Moreover, they have the option to apply for a 2-year extension upon completing their initial 5-year stay.

These adjustments facilitate extended reunions between Canadian citizens’ and permanent residents’ parents and grandparents.

When is the opening of the 2024 intake for Canada Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship?
