Does Your Job Offer Earn You CRS Points in Express Entry

Since 2015, Canada has primarily managed skilled worker applications through the Express Entry system. This dynamic system invites only the highest-scoring candidates to immigrate, ensuring that most new immigrants are economic class skilled workers.

What is the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)

To rank Express Entry candidates, the Canadian government employs the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). This system allocates up to 1,200 points based on three main factors, determining which skilled workers receive invitations to immigrate:

  • Core Human Capital Factors
  • Skill Transferability Factors
  • Additional Factors relating to a provincial nomination, a qualifying offer of arranged employment, Canadian study experience, a sibling in Canada, and/or French language ability.

Securing arranged employment is highly beneficial for Express Entry candidates, as it can add 50 to 200 points to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This significant increase enhances their chances of being invited to immigrate to Canada.

Express Entry candidates should note that only qualifying job offers are eligible for Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points under “arranged employment.” Understanding the criteria for these offers is crucial for maximizing CRS scores.
