Today, Minister Marc Miller addressed new regulations concerning the off-campus work hours for international students studying in Canada.
The Minister held a media briefing at 1 p.m. EDT (Toronto time) in the Foyer of the House of Commons of Canada.
Minister Miller announced an extension of off-campus working hours for international students during the academic term, from 20 to 24 hours per week, starting September 2024. Until then, the limit will remain at 20 hours per week until the government enacts a permanent change to implement the 24-hour limit.
During summer and winter breaks, international students are not restricted in the number of hours they can work.
The current temporary full-time work policy will cease after April 30, 2024.

Minister Miller’s media briefing coincides with the impending expiration of the temporary full-time work policy on April 30.
